The Pentecostal churches in Lexington KY teach a lot of basic Christian doctrines. These doctrines are the Bible being the inspired Word of God, repentance, divine healing, the creation and fall of man, the final judgement and the millennium. These are all under the main articles of faith however; there are certain areas where their doctrines greatly differ with the mainstream Christian churches.

The main area where the Pentecostal churches in Lexington KY differ from the other churches is the belief of having only one God. They believe in the oneness of God instead of the Trinity. They believe that God has made Himself known in three different ways. These are the Father in creation, the Son in redemption and the Holy Spirit in emanation. They do not view Him in three separate beings.

Another area where the Pentecostal churches in Lexington KY differ from the other churches is their stand on baptism. They stipulate that baptism is a requirement for getting salvation. They are teaching the person about his sins being washed away during baptism. That is why they believe that it is essential for a person to be properly baptized. It is also essential for them to have a full water immersion and must be in the name of Jesus. If this is not the case, then the baptism is invalid and thus, the person is not saved.

The third area where their belief lies concerns the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Pentecostal churches teach a person to be filled with the Holy Ghost. They believe that each member must have an initial evidence of speaking in tongues, a language that is not known by the believer. They must be speaking in their tongues and must be done on a regular basis.

During worship services, the members of the Pentecostal churches would pray aloud. They raise their hands in praise, clapping, shouting, singing, testifying, and dancing for the Lord. They also have divine healing and even showing their spiritual gifts. Foot washing and the Lord’s Supper is also practiced. They tell their members to refrain from going to the movies, dancing, and going for public swimming. The female members are not allowed to wear slack nor show their bare arms, haircut is also not allowed and the wearing of makeup and jewelry. The women must wear the dresses below the knee and cover their heads. The male members are discouraged from wearing long hair that touches the collar of the shirt or if the hair covers the tops of their ears. These are all considered signs of immodesty.
